November Meeting
We just can't get enough of learning about our fellow members' sewing routines! This meeting we're bringing back the much-loved "Favorite Notion/Tool" round robin. If you have something you think everyone will benefit from, bring it in. You'll be able to share how and why your contribution is so important to you. This is also a great way to create a little holiday wish list. ;)

January Meeting
Quilt Alliance shared the following statistics about a 2016 survey conducted by Handi-Quilter of more than 24,000 quilters: 94% of responders "believe it is important to document and preserve the history of quilts and quiltmakers" but only 57% of those same responders admitted to consistently labeling their quilts. Why? We're going to explore why that disconnect happens, discuss labeling methods and how you decide when or how to label your works.

March Meeting
Foundation Paper Piecing, or FPP, if a great tool in your kit for precise angles, pursuing realistic images and using up scraps. The versatile economy and log cabin blocks are our introduction to this technique, but more intricate patterns will be discussed. Cheralee will show you tips and tricks while covering the different approaches used to overcome that last hurdle - to tear, or not to tear the paper? There will also be support video tutorials for after the meeting!

July Meeting
July's program will all about HSTs and HRTs! (That's Half-Square Triangles and Half-Rectangle Triangles.) We're going to cover the math involved in sewing a pair of HSTs and then how to sew multiples at a time. We're going to cover directional fabric and how to orient your marking lines to the intended outcome. We'll also cover proper trimming techniques. Then, we're jumping over to HRTs and how they differ from HSTs. HRTs are a bit more finicky, with longer bias edges and specific trimming techniques for successful points in your finished block.

Quilt long enough and eventually you'll find yourself working on a charity quilt. Is going solo better than quilting in a group? How do you get ideas? What do you know about the recipient? Does it even matter??? Join us as we review some of our own guild charity quilts with the people who designed and directed them. We'll discuss the MQG's next community charity quilt and the best way for our guild to approach charity quilts.

August 2025 Meeting
Fabric Games
For our meeting, we will do our "business meeting" and show and tell first so we can engage with our Zoom audience. After this we will start fabric games. Because there isn't a great way to do this virtually, this will only be in person. So, please plan to attend in person. Additionally, please bring binder clips or something you can temporarily mark a card for a bingo game. (If you have any decks of cards, that would also be appreciated).
Q3 Challenge - Nostalgia
Create a quilted item that is a throwback to your childhood. This challenge is more free-from and storytelling. This could be a childhood toy, movie, or even your mother's dishes.
Due at the October meeting!
July 2025 Meeting
A Trunk Show (and workshop) with Special Guest, Kena Dorsey of Kena Quilt Studio
Thanks to a connection through one of our members, TaMara of Folk Quilts, LLC in Pittsburgh, we are able to bring a talented and celebrated quilter to you!
TRUNK SHOW (normal meeting time)
Sunday, July 13 at 1 - 4 pm
*Consider bringing a friend for this special program!*
About the Artist: Kena Dorsey is coming to us all the way from Los Angeles, California. She is originally from the Pittsburgh area however, and we are thrilled to be able to highlight a quilter from our region. Kena will share a vibrant selection of her quilts and creative works, rooted in African traditions, symbolism, and storytelling. This trunk show offers an inspiring look at her design process, materials, and how she merges tradition with innovation through textile art. Additionally, she will be giving a workshop on the Saturday before the trunk show with us. You can see more of her work on her Instagram account here.
*Suggested Donation of $8 for the trunk show for any non-members*
February 2025 Meeting
Join us for a basic pattern fitting meeting led by Cheralee. This program supports the March Quilted Jacket workshop. She will compare the Fairfax, Tamarack and the Elemental Coat patterns. Check out lots of poorly-fitted clothing to understand how to make the most of your quilt top when you sew a Quilted Jacket! We’ll also have our regular meeting agenda as well as Show & Tell.
