Foundation Paper Piecing: Creating patchwork by sewing fabric pieces to a design printed on paper is the basis for foundation paper piecing. When completed, the paper is torn away. This method of piecing allows for small and odd shapes that would be hard to piece by more traditional methods, and stability of pieces off-grain.
