What’s in there? Alternative batting - August Meeting

4 popular heat resistant battings. None are “heat proof”. Each has a special application.

As of the August meeting we have 78 members. This meeting was the deadline to renew annual membership. The roster will be purged of non-renewing members after the meeting.

Remember that the benefits of membership include our own meetings and activities and membership into the national guild. Members get early access to register for QuiltCon in August in addition to all the message boards and educational materials. Be sure to check your email for the new members only area of the website.

Our reception at Sunnyhill was nicely attended and we got to share information about our quilts with the attendees. Thank you Pam for organizing this reception for us.

Community Potholder Submissions

Our community project and Quarter 3 challenge are potholders which will be donated for the food bank to distribute with boxes of food. We're using our guild potholder pattern which is available in the members only area of the website. The August program is about alternative battings. The guild is providing Insul Bright filling for the potholders. Potholders must be 100% cotton, including thread.

We distributed kits for the Quilt Con community quilt. They are due back at the September Sew day. If you can't be there at the beginning, please arrange for someone to bring your quilt kits back to the sew day in the morning.

Refer back to the July slides in the archive for tips about half-square triangles.

September is sew day and we'll be assembling the quilt top. Keep an eye out for your email and the pot-luck sign up.

October's topic is binding basics and next level options, keeping in theme with finishing quilts in 2026.

There will be 2 dates in October for the walking foot workshop with Tamara Howard. Be sure to use the discount code for members in your email. Pam Bice is teaching Raw Edge Applique for Three Rivers QG on Sept 15th. Quilt Co East is offering a Zoom workshop on Stripology October 3, 2026. The Beaver Valley Piecemakers are hosting a half day workshop with Sarah Thomas (Sariditty) at 10:00 on September 3, 2026. Check the slides and the calendar for more events and details.
